Mesoblast Limited (ASX:MSB)(PINK:MBLTY) Australia's regenerative medicine company today announced that three separate papers disclosing clinical and preclinical trial results were presented this week to orthopaedic specialists attending the 55th annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS). The meetings, underway in Las Vegas, attract an estimated 15,000 orthopedic healthcare professionals from around the world.

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd. (OTCBB: IMUC) (IMUC), a biotechnology company, today announced that the company has identified new peptide candidates that may significantly expand the potential target patient population for the company's cancer stem cell vaccine product candidate, ICT-121. Many cancer therapies are limited by their ability to be used only in patients with certain human leukocyte antigen (HLA) types.

In a new study, researchers were able to generate functionally mature motor neurons from induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, which are engineered from adult somatic cells and can differentiate into most other cell types. A potential new source of motor neurons that does not require human eggs or embryos could be an enormous boon to research into conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and spinal cord injury and could open the door to eventual treatments.
